Late at Night

Last night’s dream was different, and that’s encouraging.

For a long time I’ve had dreams about walking somewhere late at night and running out of time before I got there. (Not a bad image for aging and death, when you think about it.) So this morning I was surprised to wake up from a dream in which I got there (a city where I was supposed to take a cab to another town).

Not only that–I was walking through a scary, lonely place, and I made it safely. In fact I saw a little girl walking by herself, a sure sign that I’d be ok.

The dream was not without its troubles. The cab driver took off without me when he I told him where I wanted to go. When the dream ended, I was still waiting for him to come back.

Thinking about dreams in series, and looking for patterns, can be a big help when you’re trying to find out what’s going on in that soul space hidden deep inside ourselves. Even though I’m not completely sure what that dream was saying (probably none of us can ever be sure), I know it was different–a sure sign that things unknown and not yet understood are happening. I’m on the brink of something, and it’s exhilarating.
